First-run setup

The first time Unclaw opens, a wizard walks you through everything your companion needs to be your companion. Each page explains itself; this is the map. Everything here can be changed later from Settings.

Sign in with Google, Discord, or email. Your account is what lets your roster, wardrobe, and conversation history follow you across machines, and it’s where your Claws balance lives.

A short introduction to the earned currency: you start with a seeded balance and every message earns more. Details: Claws.

Name (the one she’ll call you), pronouns, city, and timezone (detected automatically, adjustable). This is context for her: it shapes greetings, timing, weather, and how she talks to you.

Two things happen here:

  • Name your companion: whatever you want to call her.
  • Shape her personality with four sliders: formality, humor, directness, and verbosity. Each maps to real changes in how she speaks. A dry, direct, terse companion and a warm, playful, chatty one are both in there.

Free-form interest chips, what you do for work, and your general schedule. The more she knows, the less she has to guess.

Pick the model that powers her mind: an API key, a coding-CLI subscription you already pay for, or a local model. This page also has the deep-dive toggle: an optional second model that handles heavy research tasks with web browsing and tools (details).

A per-page Verify button tests your exact configuration live: you can’t finish setup with a broken key, on purpose.

Choose the engine that speaks her replies (cloud realism or fully local), each with its own Verify. Details: Voice engines.

Then she greets you by name, out loud, and the window is hers.

Re-run any part from Settings (the profile button, top right): profile, vibe sliders, AI provider and model, voice engine. The profile popover also holds Reset. See Privacy & your data for exactly what reset wipes.
